In 2009, Plainfield Country Club became the first private club in the country to become a First Tee affiliate. Plainfield Country Club is giving back to our game by providing through programs offered at the Plainfield West Nine – and support that brings golf and life values to the youth of our community.
The First Tee Program at Plainfield West Nine is under the the expert leadership of premier golf teacher and West Nine Head Golf Professional Bill Castner. Castner, a Master Golf Professional, recently won the 2015 PGA of America Youth Player Development Award.
Our program is actively involved in teaching our juniors the NINE CORE VALUES of the FIRST TEE PROGRAM -- Perseverance, Courtesy, Honesty, Integrity, Judgment, Confidence, Respect, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. Throughout our many programs, we are constantly stressing these values, along with showing them healthy living habits which they can keep for a lifetime.
The First Tee of Plainfield is also very proud of its PATH to COLLEGE program, which provides scholarships to college students each year. Additionally, participants get the opportunity to learn about the college admission process and tour several local campuses. Our First Tee students also have other scholarship opportunities, as well as mentoring and SAT preparation classes.
"One of the great things about being alive today is that we have options, especially when it comes to schools," said Luis Pena, Admissions Counselor at Drew University. "You need to take ownership of your college search. There is a school for every single person."
The First Tee of Plainfield also proudly provided many volunteers for among our participants at The Barclays in 2015. We look forward to bringing our participants to other local tournaments and events each season.
